Jaipur is famous with the name of Pink City, It is also a major destination of international travellers. every building within the walled historic centre is painted with “pink” colour. It is a first planned city of India, Jaipur has a rich history of rulers who lived in magnificent forts and palaces. Hawa Mahal, is known for the Palace of The Winds. It is one of the major tourist attractions in Jaipur. In the heart of city in 1799, Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh created a beautiful five-storey palace structure. The architect of the palace, used red and pink sandstone in the construction. This building is in the shape of the crown of Lord Krishna with 953 jharokhas or windows and a beautifully decorated with honeycomb of a beehive that gives one a feel of the rich heritage of the Rajputs.

Amber Fort

The location of Amer Fort is 11 km from the City Center. It is also the main tourist attractions of Jaipur. The fort situated on the top of a hill and declared World Heritage Site along with five Hill Forts of Rajasthan.

Architecture

The city was planned according to Indian Vastu shastra by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya in 1727. There are three gates facing east, west, and north.

  • The western gate is called Chand pol (moon gate)
  • The northern gate faces the ancestral capital of Amer
