After successfully conducting more than 10 lakhs (1 Million) daily tests with the goal of increasing daily testing capacity, India has increased the new peaks in the COVID-19 test for the last two consecutive days. For these two consecutive days, more than 11.70 lakh samples have been tested across the country. 11,69,765 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

No other country has attained these levels of very high daily testing.

With this rapid increase in daily testing, cumulative tests are close to 4.7 crores. Cumulative tests as of date have reached 4,66,79,145.

With this very high daily test, the daily positivity rate is still below 7.5%, while the cumulative positivity rate is below 8.5%. These results reflect the successful center-led strategy of the TEST TRACK TREAT, which is being effectively implemented by most states / UTs.

Continuous high testing on a wide scale enables early diagnosis, early isolation and timely hospitalization. Supervised home isolation and effective treatment based on standard treatment protocols in hospitals also reduce mortality. With a view to reducing the death rate below 1%, India's case fatality rate (CFR) has touched 1.74% after a gradient of steady and sustained decline.

India's substantial increase in test levels is anchored in the daily expanding clinical laboratory network across the country. To date, the network has been strengthened across the country with 1631 total laboratory facilities, with 1025 laboratories and 606 private laboratories in the government sector.

Coronavirus Daily Updates

India added 87,115 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday, taking the country’s tally of confirmed cases to 4,023,179. The death toll is 69,635. According to the health ministry, 846,092 cases are still active, while 3,107,223 people have been Recovered or discharged. The confirmed cases include foreigners.

Vande Bharat Mission

Around 13 lakh Indians have already been returned in various ways under the Vande Bharat Mission.

These modes are Air India, private and foreign carriers, chartered flights, naval ships and land borders.

Giving information to the media on Thursday afternoon, Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said that the sixth phase of the mission has started from the 1st of this month.

In this phase, one thousand and seven international flights from 24 countries are scheduled to operate during this month. He expects repatriation of over two lakh people.
